LOT DETAILS
Materials:
oil on panel
Size Notes:
oil on canvas, unframed The canvas is lined, and the paint surface is slightly dirty with a relatively discoloured varnish. There are two vertical seams running the height of the canvas either side of centre, which are visible under raking light. There is some minor frame abrasion along the left and upper margins and some small, scattered scuff marks throughout. There is visible discoloured retouching to scattered repaired tears and damages throughout - notably in the lower left section of the composition, the largest a 1 x 20cm. band of horizontal retouching along the centre of the left margin. Inspection under ultraviolet light confirms these, and reveals some further scattered patches of retouching (none larger than 10 x 10cm.) and some small, fine lines of retouching surrounding these areas. There is more concentrated retouching along the lower quarter of the right margin. The painting presents well for a canvas of this size and would benefit from light cleaning and restoration. The lot is sold in the condition it is in at the time of sale. The condition report is provided to assist you with assessing the condition of the lot and is for guidance only.
